Bright World Partner School Profile
Hatherop Castle School
Hatherop Castle School is a mixed independent preparatory day and boarding school for children between the ages of 2.5 and 13, located in the heart of the Cotswold countryside. Hatherop is a village and civil parish in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 2.5 miles north of Fairford in Gloucestershire. The River Coln forms part of the western boundary of the parish. We pride ourselves on the friendly, family atmosphere in the Boarding House. We aim to be very flexible, encouraging would be boarders at the age of 7, to come in for one or two nights a week as a one off or on a regular basis. Parents and relatives are most welcome to come and visit or take the children out for tea on special occasions such as birthdays. Games players are given encouragement by expert coaches and have the opportunity to compete in inter-school fixtures, tours and a competitive House System. Teams regularly represent the School at local, county and national level in a variety of subjects. However, be assured that we strive to find opportunities for every child to enjoy and succeed. For a relatively small school, we are very proud of our achievements in a wide variety of sports and activities. We run a very busy weekend programme with many exciting trips to keep the children fully occupied to avoid too many quiet moments. We also have a number of hobbies running throughout the evenings. Both the Headmaster and his wife assist with evening duties in order to ensure there is always a parent figure around to offer reassurance. The pastoral care at Hatherop Castle is excellent, reflecting that every child really matters.
